Here’s the thing about having a wedding in such an incredibly gorgeous place as Sausalito: not a lot of affordable places to stay. But we’ve pulled together a few Marin County hotels and some San Francisco options that will hopefully fit the bill.
If you’d like to try to book a room at the Alta Mira, I'm sorry to say that all of the hotel's 22 rooms have been booked. But there are other places to stay in Sausalito listed below, if you'd really like to stay right in town.
The Marin hotels are all relatively close to Sausalito, especially those in Mill Valley. But the San Francisco hotels on Lombard are actually right over the Golden Gate Bridge from Sausalito – very short drive. Check MapQuest to be sure, if you’re concerned about driving.
As for staying elsewhere in San Francisco, Fisherman’s Wharf isn’t a bad bet, since you can take the ferry over to Sausalito from the Pier 41 or the Ferry Building at Embarcadero easily enough. But be mindful that the last ferries on Saturdays are at 7:30 p.m. (Golden Gate Ferry) and 9 p.m. (Blue & Gold Fleet). So, you definitely won’t be dancing the night away with us, unless you plan to crash with someone staying in Sausalito/Marin.
Of course, there are tons of hotels in San Francisco to choose from, but we highly recommend that you rent a car for that weekend (besides, the drive across the Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful). We’ll also work on organizing car pools back to SF after the reception, but understand that there are no good public transportation options between Sausalito and SF past a certain hour – just cabs, which could get pricey.
